Like My Car the Country Needs An Oil Change

As I live at the beach it has always been a source of inspiration. With all the news about British Petroleum (BP) I am not particularily please where the inspiration came from for this piece. The shells and objects in this piece are embedded in a binder, then covered with a little tar, shellac and black paint. I don’t get much satisfaction from making a piece like this.

Artist Statement

I have no idea why others create political art but the object of my social political art on this blog is not to convince you of my social/political positions. It is created by me is so I may be able to better understand a particular point of view. They are not about you but about me and investigating an idea. So I actually may create a piece with a point of view that may be contrary to what I actually believe. But in this way I get a different perspective on the issue. And - instead of demonizing it I come to a more rounded understanding. I am not clear on my bias but I probably lean toward being a right-winged, social democrat or maybe that should be a left-winged conservative republican. Whatever it is, I don't care. If I did - I'd be doing something a little more active than creating art.
