“War is much too serious a matter to be entrusted to the military.” -Georges Clemenceau (1841 - 1929)

Mahatma Gandhi painting by John Robertson is 48" x 88" , acrylic on unstretched canvas.
General McChrystal insists that a full counter-insurgency strategy is the only option to avoid losing the war in Afghanistan, and that defeat will lead to the return of the terror network. Some in the military feel President Obama’s reassessment may damage the campaign.
On the 8th anniversary of the Afghanistan war the level of violence continue to increase. And what seems to be the outcome will be to have military outposts for decades. Although I have heard a variety of arguments (all rational) I’m too feeble to fully appreciate it.
My favorite quote from Gandhi: "What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or the holy name of liberty or democracy?" - Mahatma Gandhi (1869 - 1948), "Non-Violence in Peace and War"
